Welcome to The Akasha Center Blog

We are honored that you choose to follow our blog. We at Akasha have a passion for Integrative Medicine and strongly believe that illness is not just a set of pathologies but also a personal history. We want to know your personal history and how it relates to your illness. What are the challenges that your condition may bring you as well as the opportunities for growth and well being that it may also bring. We believe that symptoms are the body's way of telling you what it needs. We teach you and support you to develop a connection with it - and how it connects to your mind and spirit. In other words, we teach you to listen to your body as we help you feel better, healthier, and have more vitality.

I wanted to end this welcome entry by sharing our Mission Statement with you. I believe that it not only beautifully captures who we are but it also shows our deep commitment to a new paradigm in health care. One that is based on illness prevention and healthy living rather than a"band-aid" approach which treats one disease after the other without looking at the reasons why it happened to begin with.

Once again welcome

With much gratitude,

Our Mission:

The Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine, together with the de Mello Medical Corporation, is a sanctuary for health, wellness and healing.

We embrace and honor the profound power of our patients’ mind, body, community and spirit.

We recognize each person as already whole and complete, in their path of health, spiritual and financial well-being.

Our approach to evidenced-based integrative medicine is guided by both the ancient wisdom of Eastern medicine and the ever growing technological advances of Western Medicine.

As facilitators of health and healing, we embody a new model of health care providing a whole-person approach to comprehensive health care.

We bring support for each member of the Akasha community in their own path toward optimal well-being.

We affirm our patients birth right to live lives of tenable happiness and fulfillment as we show deep appreciation and respect for the planet.

  1. for the first time in my life i have found a medical center where the doctors treat me as a breathing and feeling human being. this healing space i am talking about is the akasha center for integrative medicine in santa monica. when i had my first appointment i was deeply touched by the medical staff that works there. the way they saw me as a whole person and the amount of time they spent with me to make sure my needs were met and that i felt taken care of. and yes i walked out of akasha feeling finally taken care of by my physician and i feel safe in their care. i believe that all of us should be able to be cared for by our doctor in this way.
